Burning in hell could be a lesser evil

Imagine that all your body functions and sensations collapse, and all lights and sounds go out. There is nothing to see, hear, or feel. No hunger, no thirst, no fatigue, no desire, no anger, no fear. 

But you're totally and perfectly awake. Always awake. No sleep, no dreams, nothing! But you're still there, alone and literally in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by nothing. And you're still there, perfectly awake and aware, for always, for eternity. 

Wouldn't you think that burning in hell is a lesser evil? At least you would be feeling something; you'd burn, you'd be somewhere, maybe you'd be suffering for a reason, and maybe you wouldn't be alone, and maybe you'd make some buddies who are in agony like you and suffer the same.
