It is unfair and demeaning to Chamberlain and Daladier to compare them to @elonmusk, @OrbanPl and all those who ask #Ukraine to give up territory.
In Munich, Chamberlain and Daladier had to arbitrate between fighting Hitler and fighting Stalin.
1. Hitler presented himself, and was seen by the West, as a bulwark against Stalin.
2. For the West, weakening Hitler meant to let Stalin take control of Eastern Europe. Which actually happened after WWII.
3. UK and France were not ready for war. Munich let them win time.
4. In contrast to @elonmusk, @OrbanPl and their like-minded that want to submit to Russian hegemony. Chamberlain and Daladier wanted to contain and defeat Hitler without giving the advantage to Stalin.
Their strategy was to gain time to rearm to attain that objective.
Their perspective, unlike that of today's pacifists, was not to let Hitler annex the Sudetes and then have peace ever after. Chamberlain and Daladier wanted to beat and neutralize Hitler.
5. If Chamberlain and Daladier were wrong, which is not certain, because the time won with Munich allowed the UK to arm and finally win WWII, they don't deserve to be compared to @elonmusk, @OrbanPl and their like-minded that want to submit to Russian hegemony in exchange for #Putin's promises of peace.
Had we prevented Putin from crushing and destroying the Chechen Republic of Ichkeria, he wouldn't have invaded Georgia, Crimea and Ukraine.
If #Putin isn't stopped in Ukraine, Transnistria, Moldova, Baltic States, Romania, Bulgaria, Poland and Germany will follow.
The only path for peace is to support #Ukraine, push Russia to its 1991 borders and force it to disarm.
Those who don't support Ukraine are objective allies of the Russian aggression and should be held accountable.
